From 1 day until 8 weeks old 120 Hubbard broiler chickens were given diets based on ground maize and with decorticated cottonseed oilmeal or rapeseed oilmeal, extracted either by expeller or solvent processes. There was no significant difference among the 4 treatments in rate of gain, feed intake, feed conversion efficiency or carcass dressing percentage. The highest profit per bird was with the diet containing expeller-extracted rapeseed oilmeal and the lowest with the solvent-extracted decorticated cottonseed oilmeal.
