East-African-Agricultural-and-Forestry-Journal. 1982, 48: 1/4, 19-24; 32 ref., publ. 1985. Groups of 8 crossbred pigs weighing 30 to 47 kg were given a diet without or with 10, 20 or 30% coconut meal to replace soyabean and maize meal to slaughter at 90 kg. Mean daily gain was 705, 719, 543 and 438 g, respectively. Mean feed intake was 3.21, 3.11, 3.83 and 4.91 kg/kg gained. As a result of the current shortage of pig feeds in Tanzania, a growth rate of 500 g daily is considered to be satisfactory. This abstract relates to the following species:Cocos nucifera
