Programa de pastos tropicales. Informe anual 1982. 1984, 225-249. Cali, Colombia; CIAT.

In 1982 the object of research on pasture quality and nutrition was: to characterize quality factors in the germplasm; to relate the quality of germplasm in pastures with animal production; and to identify on the basis of quality alternatives in the use of germplasm in pasture systems. Desmodium ovalifolium was considered to be potentially important for acid and infertile soils. Forage quality of 3 Andropogon gayanus lines was evaluated. Aspects investigated were: characterization of lines under grazing; acceptability of legumes by animals; consumption of Brachiaria humidicola, B. humidicola + D. ovalifolium, and A. gayanus + Pueraria phaseoloides.

This abstract relates to the following species:

Andropogon gayanus, Brachiaria humidicola, Desmodium ovalifolium, Pueraria phaseoloides
