 | Abstract 531 The effect of cottonseed meal (CSM) groundnut meal (GNM) mixture and protein levels in practical broiler diets.Njike,-MC National Veterinary Research Inst., Vom, Nigeria. East-African-Agricultural-and-Forestry-Journal. 1984, 45: 1, 36-40; 9 ref. From 1 to 42 days old 500 meat chickens were given in a 5 X 2 factorial arrangement diets with 24 or 26% protein supplied by groundnut oilmeal without or with 2, 10, 20, 30, 40 or 50% cottonseed oilmeal and methionine and lysine supplements. Up to 40% of groundnut oilmeal could be replaced by cottonseed oilmeal without any adverse effect on rate of gain, final bodyweight and feed efficiency. In a second experiment 20, 40, 60, 70, 80, 90 or 100% of groundnut oilmeal was replaced by cottonseed oilmeal in diets for chickens from 6 to 12 weeks old. Up to 70% of groundnut oilmeal could be replaced by cottonseed oilmeal with only slight nonsignificant differences in rate of gain, feed efficiency and final bodyweight. This abstract relates to the following species:Arachis hypogaea, Arachis hypogaea, Gossypium spp
