Welcome to the webpage

Land-Water Linkages
in
Rural Watersheds

Lower watershed, Río Jequetepeque, Peru

This programme explores:

  • to what extent different land use systems and practices affect hydrological regime and water quality, and at which scales and contexts the impacts are of importance
  • instruments to value the resulting benefits and costs to resource users
  • institutional, economic, regulatory, and social mechanisms which can be applied to achieve an equitable sharing of these benefits and costs by upstream and downstream resource users in a watershed context.

On this page you find:

Land-Water Linkages Case Study Series
,  documentation of experiences with:

 - economic valuation of hydrologic services from land use;
 - cooperation mechanisms to share the resulting benefits and costs between upstream and downstream people in rural watersheds.
