68th JECFA meeting

Now available: The Summary report of the 68th JECFA meeting

The 68th meeting of the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee for Food Additives (JECFA) from 19 - 28 June 2007 took place at WHO headquarters in Geneva. The Committee drew from the experience of 38 scientists from 16 countries at this meeting, which was devoted to the evaluation of food additives and contaminants.

NEW: 68th JECFA meeting - Steviol glycoside evaluation - Pre-publication of draft report

Due to the high interest in the outcome of the deliberations on steviol glycosides at the 68th meeting of JECFA, FAO and WHO have decided to exceptionally allow a prepublication of a draft version of this section of the report on the JECFA websites. The report is available here [pdf 280kb].

JECFA Flavourings (flavouring agents) specifications database on-line updated

The JECFA database for flavourings (flavouring agent) specifications has been updated and modernised. All specifications for flavourings that have been evaluated by JECFA since its 44th meeting, including the 68th meeting, are available in the new format with easy search options in English, French, Spanish, Arabic and Chinese here.

Joint FAO/WHO expert meeting on the benefits and risks of the use of 'active chlorine' in food production and food processing (2007)

In early 2007 FAO/WHO issued a 'Call for Experts' and a 'Call for Information' (now closed) to facilitate new work on the assessment of benefits and risks of the use of 'active chlorine' in food production and processing. Read more...
