Near East Regional Meeting on Food Safety
5-6 March 2005, Amman, Jordan
FAO and WHO held a two-day joint Regional Meeting on Food Safety
for the Near East at the Meridien Hotel in Amman , Jordan from 5 to 6 March
2005 , immediately preceding the Third Session of the FAO/WHO Coordinating
Committee for the Near East (CCNEA).
The objectives of this meeting were to:
- Exchange information on food safety programmes and food control
systems in the countries of the Near East region
- Identify practical actions to strengthen national food control
systems in the countries of the region
- Promote the strengthening and/or the establishment of regional
and sub-regional networks for the exchange of food safety related information
and experiences among all stakeholders
- Identify opportunities for improving regional cooperation
in promoting food safety, taking into account the prevailing conditions in
the entire food chain
