About Authors

Fernando Riveros was born in Santiago, Chile, and studied at the Catholic University in Santiago. He recieved his M. Agr. Sc. from Massey University, New Zealand and his Ph.D. from the University of Queensland, Australia. From 1977-1993 he was Senior Officer of the Grassland and Pastures Crops Group of FAO and developed a strong grassland programme of research, training and extension and development with emphasis on the utilization of legume species. In 1993 he became Service Chief of the Crop and Grassland Service with overall responsibilities for crop production and development in different ecologies until his retirement in 1996.
