Description
Herb, 15 to 30 cm high, slender stems, petiole 0.3 to 0.6 cm long, leaflets rigidly coriaceous, pale green, oblong-ovate 1 to 1.25 cm long, nearly digitate. Racemes 7.5 to 15 cm, lower flowers two to four together. Pod with two joints (rarely one), round-oblong, pubescent, 0.4 cm long, both sutures deeply indented (Hooker, 1879).
Distribution
India, Sri Lanka, Burma, Malaysia, northern Australia.
Characteristics
An erect strong annual; low productivity, high palatability. High resistance to trampling and recovery from grazing. Adaptable to poor soils; and grows from seed. Has no resistance to waterlogging. Produces a large quantity of seed of moderate viability (Farinas, 1966).
