Common names

Currawong.

Characteristics

Tree somewhat similar in appearance to A. shirleyi, but usually not growing in dense scrubs. The tops are usually rounded and the leaves more curved. They occur in somewhat stony soils in the 625- to 750-mm rainfall belt south of the tropics in Queensland, particularly in the area from Tara to St George. The leaves are eaten readily and in some districts the trees are cut for fodder in times of drought (Everist, 1969).
