Description

Half-woody, erect, hairy under-shrub growing to 1 to 2 m high; branches densely brown, pubescent. Leaves large, ovate or rhomboid, rounded to acute at the apex: up to 15 cm long and 8 cm broad, tomentose on both surfaces. Flowers pink or purplish, small in dense sessile racemes. Pod about 1.8 cm long, densely hairy, deeply indented on one side (Andrews, 1952).
Distribution
Occurs in the southern Sudan and is being tested in Maracay, Venezuela.
Characteristics
Adapted to high rainfall areas (up to 3 000 mm annually). Regarded as a browse plant.
