Description
Upright plant, 0.6 to 1.2 m high with yellow to creamy flowers; pod pubescent with beak shorter than the upper articulation; stem without viscid hairs, leaflets not punctate, and articulation is fertile (Mohlenbrock, 1963).
Distribution
Occurs in Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia, Argentina and Colombia . The CSIRO Australian introduction is CPI 11492, from Uruguay.
Characteristics
A sparse perennial fodder plant. 'T Mannetje (1965) showed it to be a long-day plant which can be found dormant under photoperiods of eight and ten hours. It flowered in 68 days under a 12-hour regime and in 64 days with 14 hours. Dry-matter production in a 12-hour photoperiod was nearly seven times that in the 10-hour treatment.
