Description
A tufted perennial with numerous ascending stems with many
nodes and long, narrow, somewhat succulent leaves (Bogdan & Pratt,
1967).

Excellent.
Soil requirements
It prefers loams and alluvial silts (Bogdan & Pratt, 1967).

Broadcast on roughly disc-harrowed seed-bed.

Early wet season, at 1.2 kg/ha (Bogdan & Pratt, 1967).

Palatability
It is well grazed by cattle.

At an early flowering stage it showed a crude protein content
of the dry matter of nearly 14 percent (Bogdan & Pratt, 1967).
Natural habitat
Annual grass zone of northern Kenya.
Economics
It is a useful pasture plant in the dry areas of the Sudan
and Kenya.
