Description

A tufted perennial with numerous ascending stems with many nodes and long, narrow, somewhat succulent leaves (Bogdan & Pratt, 1967).

Palatability

It is well grazed by cattle.

At an early flowering stage it showed a crude protein content of the dry matter of nearly 14 percent (Bogdan & Pratt, 1967).

Natural habitat

Annual grass zone of northern Kenya.

Economics

It is a useful pasture plant in the dry areas of the Sudan and Kenya.
