Description:

Herbaceous or small shrub, perennial, up to 40 cm high, woody rhizomes.

Distribution:

Broad distribution from Northeast Mexico to Western Argentina and Uruguay.

Habitat:

In stony fields with grasses or shrubs, associated with short grasses along watersides. Grows well in stony, clay, basaltic, sandy soils, arable lands where it covers bare ground. Up to 1000 masl.

Use:

In the absence of droughts or frosts, produces permanent low amount of good quality forage. Analyses at flowering have shown 14.6 % crude protein, 0.16 % P. Other species of Rynchosia (R. minima, R. diversifolia var. diversifolia) produce abundant forage, high seed production and show resistance to insect attacks, with excellent production potential.
