Indigofera

Lock (1989) records 380 species and 32 subspecies of Indigofera in Africa. There are some 60 species native to West Africa and a couple of dozen to the Sahelian and Sudanian ecozones. Most are unpaltable and some toxic. Half a dozen have been recorded as being grazed by livestock to various degrees and at various stages.
