Description

Tufted annual, with ascending culms 5-40 cm high. Leaf-blades flat, ovate, 1-4.6 cm long and 2-15 mm wide, with cartilaginous margins. Inflorescence of 3-18 racemes on an axis 1-6 cm long; racemes 0.5-2 cm in length with a triquetrous rhachis. Spikelets glabrous or pubescent, hemisphaerical 1.5-2 mm long, borne singly or occasionally paired on the rhachis.

Habitat

Deciduous bushland, grassland often on rocky ground and undisturbed ground.

Altitude range

1300-2600 m.

Distribution

Kenya; also from Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Sudan, Ethiopia and Asia.

Use

A small grass of no importance for grazing.
