Description

Probably perennial with slender erect culms up to 145 cm high. Leaf-blades loosely folded, 19-30 cm long and 4-6 mm wide, subacute and scabrid along the keel and margins; ligule a membranous ciliolate rim 0.25 mm long. Inflorescence of 9 slender, subdigitate spikes 5-15 cm in length. Spikelets 4-6-flowered, 5-6 mm long, laxly arranged on the spikes, those at the end of the spikes are aborted; lemmas 3.2-3.8 mm long; grain is 1-1.2 mm long, granular-striate.


Habitat

Dry open ground.

Altitude range

± 300 m.
