Description

Erect herb, 0.15-2 m high; stems subglabrous. Leaves paripinnate; petioles with a large sessile gland; rhachis without glands; leaflets in 4-5 pairs, ovate to ovate-elliptic or lanceolate, 5-12 cm long, 2-4 cm wide, acute or acuminate at apex, glabrous with ciliolate margins and inconspicuous scattered glands beneath. Inflorescence racemes from upper axils, very short, almost umbellate; petals yellow. Pods linear, 8-12.5 cm long, 0.5-1.0 cm wide, brown, subglabrous, many-seeded; seeds compressed, grey-brown, ovate-suborbicular.

Habitat

By roadsides and waste ground and as a weed in cultivated areas.

Altitude range

0-1740 m.

Distribution

Kenya; also Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, pantropical, possibly originating in tropical America.
