Characteristics

Densely branched shrub or small tree; limbs often with sharp "boomerang" bends; leaves short, stiff, ending in short sharp points; flowers in balls, pods curled into rough spiral. The plant is found mainly as scattered individuals among eucalypts or along edges of mulga country. It extends from the 375- to 625-mm rainfall zone and is eaten freely where other edible trees are scarce (Everist, 1969).
