Description
A shrub about 2 m high, erect, branched: leaflets in five to
eight pairs, oblanceolate, about 1 to 1.5 cm long, smooth above and hairy
beneath. Flowers yellow in 6- to 12-flowered racemes. Pods chestnut-brown
when mature, 1.5 to 4 cm long, polished, six- to eight-seeded (Andrews,
1952).
Distribution
Occurs in the central and southern Sudan and is locally abundant
in Zambia in Combretum/Acacia mixed woodland, particularly in disturbed
areas.
Characteristics
It has low palatability during the rainy season, but is well
browsed toward the end of the dry season when young subsidiary shoots are
also eaten readily.
