Description

A deep rooted bush-like perennial herb, up to 60-90 cm high, remaining green throughout the dry season.

Soil

Grows on sandy soils.

Distribution

Occurs in Niger.

Products & uses

Readily consumed by stock. Pounded leaves used as a decoction against snake-bite. T. purpurea is also reported by Baumer (1975) as eagerly sought after by sheep in the dry season in the Kordofan province of the Rep. of Sudan.
