About authors

Janine Victor is a Principal Scientist at the National Botanical Institute in Pretoria, South Africa. She has been working for the National Herbarium doing research on systematics and phytogeography of the Rutaceae for ten years as well as running the South African Red List project for the SABONET programme. She recently transferred to the Threatened Species Programme as the Red List Co-ordinator. The Threatened Species Programme is funded by the Royal Norwegian Embassy (NORAD) and aims to compile, by 2006, a complete Red Data List for South Africa and an analysis of threats to survival of plants. She has an M.Sc. from the University of Pretoria and is currently studying towards her Ph.D. Her special research interests are on threatened plants, biodiversity and conservation. She has almost 30 scientific publications including some contributions to books.
