provides a synthesis of the development of
soybean production in India and its vital
importance to agriculture and the edible oil
economy of the country. Soybean growing, which
has been taken up by both marginal and
resource-rich farmers, has revoutionised rural
economy and resulted in a substantial
improvement of the socio-economic status of
growers and soybean-based agro-industry.
