TO OTHER TECHNICAL UNITS OF FAO
ACTIVITIES
DURING 1999-2001
In
addition to the support to the International
Rice Commission, the RDP will be
responsible for:
- 1.Technical
support to the implementation of the Special
Programme for Food Security, especially in
Burkina Faso, Chad Gambia, Guinea, Madagascar,
Mauritania, Nigeria, Senegal and Tanzania in
Africa; Bangladesh, Cambodia, Laos, Nepal and
the Philippines in Asia; and Haiti in
America.
2.Technical suppervision and backstopping to
following field projects:

(T) Training in Hybrid Rice
Technology
- TCP/PHI/8821
(T) Strengthening of National Capacity for
Hybrid Rice Development and Use
- TCP/EGY/8923
(T): Training in Hybrid Rice Technology through
Technical Cooperation between Developing
Countries. Funded by FAO and has been
implemented since September 1999.
- TCP/INS/8921
(A): Strengthening the Development and Use of
Hybrid Rice in Indonesia. Funded by FAO and will
be implemented in January 2000.
- IND/99/140/A/01/99:
Development and Large Scale Adoption of Hybrid
Rice Technology. Funded by UNDP and has been
implemented since February

of technical support to other units of FAO in
matters related to rice and rice-based food
production systems; especially in serving as

of technical assistance to the formulation and
implementation of projects as requested by
Countries-Members.
