SUPPORT TO THE TRAINING OF STAFF OF NATIONAL RICE PROGRAMMES   Training on Hybrid Rice Technology The manpower and its expertise in many national programmes on hybrid rice development and use in areas outside of China, however, is still limited. The RDP has provide support to the the training on hybrid rice technologies to staff of hybrid rice programmes in Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam through Field Projects and INTAFOHR. The training of the Egyptian programme will be initiated in year 2000.   Training on High Yielding Technology The Egyptian rice yield is the world highest. This was due to both improved rice varieties and crop management techniques. The conditions of the rice production in many countries in Sahel zone of the Sub-Sahara Africa are more or less similar to those in Egypt. RDP, in collaboration with the Egyptian Field Food Crops Research Institute is preparing for a training on High Yielding Technology for for staff of national rice programmes in Chad, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, and Senegal in year 2000.
