Promotion of strategic crop research in developing countries is a small but important component of the AGPC work programme. The Service's activities involve technical collaboration in research and technology transfer, and collaboration with IARCs, national programmes and FAO Regional Offices. Examples:

Promotion of horticultural research through an International Horticulture Research Conference and the International Horticulture Congress
Research and development initiatives for date palm, cactus pear, mushrooms, citrus, fodder oats in Himalayan countries, and horticulture in West and Central Africa
