FORUMS AND ADVICE
AGPC coordinates and contributes to many crop networks that promote sustainable use of crop genetic resources. They include:
International Rice Commission networks on hybrid rice, advanced rice breeding in Latin America and the Caribbean, rice research in the Mediterranean climate areas, and rice in wetland/inland valley swamps
Network on Plant Biotechnology for Latin America and the Caribbean (RedBio), comprising 620 laboratories in 33 countries. A major focus is on food safety, biosecurity and intellectual property rights
Tropical Asian Maize Network (TAMNET), created in 1993 to facilitate and strengthening collaboration in maize research and development among national institutions
Global network on mushrooms, established in 1993 to share technical information and build a coordinated global system of mushroom germplasm collections under FAO aegis
Inter-American Citrus Network (IACNET), initiated in 1991 and linking 27 national systems on citrus in Latin America, the Caribbean and the USA
International Cactus Pear Network (CACTUSNET), established in 1993 to collect and disseminate information on germplasm, production, post-harvest and processing technologies, trade and markets
Conservation agriculture networks in Latin America (RELACO), Eurasia (ECAN), and South Asia (SACAN), and the African Conservation Tillage Network (ACT)
Tropical Fruits Latin-American Network (RELAFRUT), created in 1998 with six subregional networks
Pasture and forage networks in South America (Chaco, Campos and Patagonia), East Africa, Southeast Asia and temperate Asia, based on similarity of ecological conditions and production systems
Date Palm Global Network (DPGN) facilitates technical cooperation among both new and traditional date-producing countries
African Network for Horticulture Development (RADHORT) promotes cooperation in horticulture research and development in 10 countries of the Sudano-Sahelian region
