Goals

• Improved preparedness for early interventions by establishing a strong and efficient control capacity.
• Establishment of more efficient contingency arrangements and an inter-regional contingency fund.

The early control capacities of key countries in the Central Region are being strengthened by reviewing and restructuring campaign organization and execution, through training, and by providing technical assistance and equipment. Improved methods for monitoring the efficacy of control operations as well as the safe use and environmental impact of pesticides are being introduced.

Rapid deployment plans and contingency arrangements are being improved or established at national and international levels. This includes the establishment of strategic stocks of equipment and supplies which may be required on short notice.
