Regional and sub-regional networks are operational in many parts of the world.

The Plan calls for the strengthening of these and the establishment of new networks in:

• the Pacific
• the Caribbean
• Central Asia and the Caucuses
• West and Central Africa
• East Africahe Indian Ocean Islands
• the Indian Ocean Islands

A stronger role for crop networks is also envisaged: the Plan calls for increased cooperation between networks and the International Agricultural Research Centres.strategies.
