    Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuaria (EMBRAPA)

    The general aim of EMBRAPA is to provide feasible solutions for the sustainable development of the Brazilian agribusiness by generating, adapting and transferring knowledge that benefits the Brazilian society. EMBRAPA is present in almost all states of the country, each with its own ecological conditions. EMBRAPA has a research unit - dedicated to wheat - the "EMBRAPA Trigo" located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul (RS). Besides, other units located in the states of Paraná (PR), Mato Grosso do Sul (MS) and Brasilia (DF) also are involved in developing wheat technology. EMBRAPA permanently releases new wheat cultivars and updates crop management practices. It produces basic seed and further multiplication and marketing is done by grower associations and foundations. Technology transfer is coordinated with the Brazilian Agricultural Extension Corporation (EMBRATER) and local extension agencies.
