The National Institute of Agricultural Research (Instituto Nacional de Investigación Agraria, INIA) operates through ten experiment stations along the country. Seven of this stations are devoted to wheat breeding and crop management research, and are located in the departments of Cajamarca, Huancayo, Cusco, Ayacucho and Puno. INIA produces basic, registered and certified seeds. Extension activities includes technical meetings, publications, courses, field events, etc.
