Proceedings of the International Colloquium on Tropical Animal Production for the Benefit of Man. 1982, 370; 1 ref. Antwerp, Belgium; Prince Leopold Institute of Tropical Medicine. Mixtures of barley malt grains and 9 different proportions of yeast, from 0 to 16%, were ensiled for 90 or 110 days. Fermentation characteristics, except for soluble N, were affected only slightly by increasing yeast. The silages, of excellent quality, were well accepted by sheep, except for 1 each, out of 4, with 12 and 14% yeast. All the mixtures were well accepted also in a fresh state, despite bitterness of the yeast. This abstract relates to the following species:Brewer's spent grain, Brewer's yeast
