PasturasTropicales-Boletin. 1986, 8: 2, 2-6; 13 ref. At Quilichao experimental station, Cauca, Centrosema macrocarpum ecotype 5065, Zornia brasiliensis ecotype 7485, Stylosanthes macrocephala ecotype 1643 or Stylosanthes guianensis var. pauciflora ecotype 1283 were grown on an Ultisol and fed to 16 African sheep (11.28 kg W0.75). The highest value of CP was 25.1% in C. macrocarpum leaves, NDF was 74%, ADF was 58.9% and lignin was 18.8% in S. macrocephala stems and in vitro DM digestibility was 55.7% in C. macrocarpum. Daily DM intake ranged from 16.3 g/kg W0.75 (Z. brasiliensis) to 63.6 g/kg W0.75 (C. macrocarpum). The digestibilities of DM, NDF, ADF and N were highest in C. macrocarpum at 64.5%, 62.6%, 57.5% and 79.9%, resp. This abstract relates to the following species:
