Archivesof-Animal-Nutrition. 1989, 39: 8/9, 785-792; 7 ref. Effect of wilting Panicum maximum cv. Likoni cut at 40 days on fermentation in 2-litre micro silos was studied in 2 experiments. Compared with freshly ensiled material, wilting improved fermentation and increased protein concentration due to a higher DM content. Best results were obtained with 41% DM, followed by 32% DM. In unfavourable weather conditions it is recommended to wilt to at least 30% DM. This abstract relates to the following species: |
