Coastcross 1 (Cynodon dactylon).Rodriguez,-JA; Poppe,-S; Meier,-H Wilhelm-Pieck-Universitat Rostock, Sektion Tierproduktion, Wissenschaftsbereich Tierernahrung, Justus-von-Liebig-Strasse, Postfach 27-07, 2500 Rostock, German Democratic Republic. Archivesof-Animal-Nutrition. 1989, 39: 10, 851-857; 3 ref. Influence of wilting of Cynodon dactylon cv. Coastcross 1 on fermentation in microsilos was studied in 2 experiments. After wilting for 2 or 7 h, fermentation improved and stabilized due to increasing DM in the original material, resulting in increased crude protein levels in the silage, compared with silage from unwilted bermuda grass. A DM content of at least 30% is recommended for ensiling C. dactylon. This abstract relates to the following species:Cynodon dactylon
