Unfertilized, non-irrigated buffalo grass (Cenchrus ciliaris cv. Biloela), cultivated in Granma province, Cuba, was cut at 45 or 42 days and ensiled fresh or wilted in 2-litre glass vessels. Fermentation improved and stabilized after wilting for 2 or 6 h with increasing DM content, yielding increased protein contents. Reliable results are achieved with DM content of at least 30-35%.
