In vitro DM, OM and CP digestibility data are given for 11 fodders including Acacia tortilis, A. nilotica, A. horrida, Indigofera schimperi and mixed leguminous shrubs from the Lafoole area near Mogadishu at the end of the Jilaal [long dry] season. The values shown are comparable with very good fodder samples from temperate countries. DM, OM and CP digestibilities were positively correlated with CF content. DM and OM digestibilities were inversely related to acid detergent lignin content and DM and CP digestibilities with N-free extract. This abstract relates to the following species:
