Animal Science, Punjab Agricultural Univ., Ludhiana-141004, India. Indian-Journal-of-Animal-Nutrition. 1985, 2: 2, 91-93; 9 ref. For 121 days 3 groups of male buffalo calves, about 1.5 years old initially, were given daily 2 kg maize fodder, wheat straw and isonitrogenous concentrate mixtures with groundnut cake 20, 12 and 4, triticale 47, 51 and 54, rice polishings 30, 0 and 30, dried poultry droppings (crude protein 13.2-14.9%) 0, 28 and 0, urea 0, 0 and 2.2 and molasses 0, 7 and 7%, respectively. Daily weight gains were 587, 611 and 686 g, respectively, and not significantly different. Intakes of digestible crude protein, 309-344 g, and total digestible nutrients, 2.91-3.16 kg, N retention, 21.8-26.2 g, and DM digestibility, 49.0-52.1%, did not differ among the groups.
