For 6 weeks 4 adult Kankrej bullocks were given diets based on cassava waste, wheat bran and maize gluten without or with 15, 30 and 45% processed babul (Acacia nilotica) seed. DM intake ranged from 1.34 to 1.44 kg/100 kg bodyweight daily and was not significantly affected by giving 45% babul seed. Crude protein digestibility was lower in bulls given babul seed and decreased with increasing amounts of babul seed. Nitrogen, phosphorus and calcium retention was greater in the controls than in groups given babul seed.
