Cottonseed meal (CM) replaced groundnut meal (GM) on an equal protein basis in poultry diets. Diets containing CM 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20% were given to laying hens and to turkeys from 16 to 24 weeks of age. Results indicated that CM replaced all the GM in laying rations without adverse effects on egg production, feed efficiency, egg weight and egg quality. The use of CM did not result in yolk and albumen discolouration or pink colouration even after 8 weeks of storage. In turkey rations, ground CM pellets replaced all the GM without adverse effect on performance and mortality, and at lower feed cost/kg gain.
