An extensive outbreak of photosensitization, with mortality rates of 20-60%, occurred in sheep on pastures dominated by Brachiaria ruziziensis during two rainy seasons (1980-81). Light-skinned animals developed generalized necrosis. The PM picture was a severe generalized icterus. The therapeutic and prophylactic measures are described.
