In a field trial in 1981 at Lages, 5 Flamenga cows with a mean initial liveweight of 514 kg and similar lactation history were rotationally grazed daily on strips of a pasture containing 58% Kikuyu grass for 91 days. Total milk production ranged from 912 to 1158 kg and liveweight gains from 29 to 40 kg/cow. In vitro OM digestibility and CP content ranged from 50.0 to 70.1% and 9.2 to 17.2%, resp., during the grazing period.
