A note on the total and inorganic P contents of Digitaria decumbens Stent, Cynodon dactylon cv. Coast cross 1 and Cynodon nlemfuensis under grazing conditions.

Irrigated and fertilized pastures of Digitaria decumbens, Cynodon dactylon and C. nlemfuensis were sampled manually at regrowth age 24 days. The grasses contained, repectively, 20.97, 4.45 and 25.01% DM, 13.85, 15.54 and 13.77% crude protein, 0.28, 0.35 and 0.35% total phosphorus and 0.23, 0.23 and 0.22% inorganic P, also 0.46, 0.49 or 0.45% Ca. Stocking rate, 3, 4 or 5 cows/ha, had no significant effect on results.
