 | Abstract 510 Nutritive value of tropical grasses. II. Pangola grass (Digitaria decumbens, Stent). Annual and seasonal.Laredo-C,-MA Instituto Colombiano Agropecuario, Tibaitata, Colombia. Revista-del-Instituto-ColombianoAgropecuario. 1981, 16: 3, 133-140; 22 ref. Pangola grass established in 1965 at Armero was rotationally grazed by cattle for 10 days with a 40-day rest period at a rate of 2 animals/ha without irrigation or fertilizer application from June 1980 to June 1981. Samples were taken monthly. DM digestibility, DE and cell wall constituents differed between seasons with significant differences in CP, acid detergent fibre (ADF) and lignin contents. DE was high throughout the yr and similar in both seasons, 2.62 and 2.52 Mcal/kg for the wet and dry season, resp. The CP, neutral detergent fibre, ADF, hemicellulose and lignin contents were the most important in affecting digestibility (R2 = 0.8). This abstract relates to the following species:Digitaria decumbens
