Grazing beef cattle in native pasture areas in the dry region at different stocking rates.

In grazing trials in Piaui, 22 crossbred cattle aged 24-30 months were grazed on unimproved grassland dominated by Diectomis fastigiata and Aristida sp. at stocking rates of 4, 6 or 8 ha/animal. Max. daily liveweight gain (159 g/animal) occurred at the lowest stocking rate but the max. liveweight gain/ha (28 g/day) occurred at the highest stocking rate.
