 | Abstract 559 Poultry wastes as feed for ruminants: 2. Effect of age on chemical composition of broiler litter and caged layer droppings.Adeleye,-IOA; Kitts,-WD Dep. Animal Science, Univ. British Columbia, Vancouver, BC, Canada. Tropical-Animal-Production. 1983, 8: 1, 15-18; 13 ref. The chemical composition of caged layer poultry droppings, on a dry matter basis, did not show significant variation as accumulation progressed. Moisture content increased significantly with time. The chemical composition of wood shaving broiler litter in occupied broiler houses varied significantly with age. Some chemical constituents such as moisture, crude protein, ash and uric acid nitrogen increased with age. A greater proportion of the observed variation in the chemical composition of broiler litter was due to dilution of the droppings with wood bedding material.
