Indigofera cordifolia, Indigofera nigritana, Indigofera schimperi

Indigofera L. Three more species of the genus which contains c. 700 species. Used for natural dyes and some spp. still grown for green manure and fodders.

Certain species contain deleterious substances: indospicine and 3-nitropropanoic acid. Report shows intra-specific variation in occurrence of toxins.
