Volunteer in 2000

Ida K. Hindrichsen joined Feed Resources group as a volunteer in mid April 2000. She was working as a volunteer until mid July and assisted   in developing the Animal Feed Resources Information System (AFRIS) on feeds and feeding systems.

She is studying animal nutrition at the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University (KVL) in Copenhagen and will finish her master's degree this spring/summer. Recently, she was an exchange student at the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule (ETH) in Zürich. She has just completed and submitted a master's thesis, from data collected during a 7 month period at the International Research Livestock Institute (ILRI), Debre Zeit, Ethiopia. The title of her master's thesis is: "Multipurpose trees and shrubs as supplements to low quality roughage fed to ruminants in tropical countries". She has also studied at the University of Aberdeen and worked at the Rowett Research Institute (RRI), Scotland, where she analysed rumen samples in the laboratory.

Ida has  updated  the forage pages of AFRIS and will liaise with ILRI on 'The impact of forage research'.
