The nutrient composition of some tropical feedstuffs currently little used in rabbit production was estimated. The tropical forages studied contained protein 23% (range 5-35%), fibre 18 (range of 9-30) and high amounts of mineral ash. Groundnut cake was high in protein (52%) but very low in crude fibre (5%). Poultry excreta and rabbit excreta were high in both protein and fibre. Wastes from breweries contained high amounts of protein; dried brewers grain and dried brewers yeast contained 28 and 46% protein, respectively, and 18 and 12% crude fibre. Those levels of nutrients were sufficient to meet the protein and fibre requirements for growth, lactation and reproduction of rabbits.
