 | Abstract 382 Chemical characterization of seeds of some commercial mango (Mangifera indica) cultivars, Goran, Reina de Mexico and Super Haden.Diaz,-A; Zayas,-JP; Sanchez,-R Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cientificas, Ministerio de Educacion Superior, Havana, Cuba. Ciencia-y-Tecnica-en-la-Agricultura,Citricos-y-Otros-Frutal s. 1982, 5: 3, 25-35; 12 ref. The seeds were analysed for their protein, amino acid, starch, fat, crude fibre, ash, moisture, nutrient mineral and tannin contents. Starch, fat and tannin contents were high (up to 59.13, 8.66 and 10.30%, respectively) and fibre content was low (0.87-1.22%) in all cultivars. Fats from seeds of cultivars Goran, Reina de Mexico and Super Haden contained 44.7%, 42.5% and 46.1% unsaturated fatty acids, respectively. The high starch content of the seeds suggests that, after tannin removal, they would be suitable for processing into animal feed. This abstract relates to the following species:Mangifera indica, Mangifera indica
